Fixing education system through curriculum revolution.

The curriculum revolution means the invention of a new curriculum system, the direct opposite of an existing operative curriculum. The invented curriculum system ought to open up opportunities and future possibilities for students. Upon implementation, the invented curriculum system has to ensure a transformed teaching and learning process dictated by the job market requirements of skills and competencies. The birth of curriculum revolution indicates sincere education consciousness about the status of the current education system and its curriculum thereof. This revolution ought to toughen up against the conflicts and contradictions from those who resist this long overdue curriculum change. It will have to endure the pain of being over scrutinized and thrive in the midst of disbelief and total rejection. Its sole onus is to redress the curriculum divisions and robustly root out all curriculum irrelevancies, imbalances, disengagements etc.

The need for curriculum revolution emanates from the daily dejection and disengagement students face at school. It further emanates from the meaninglessness the curriculum system has imposed upon students. These are concerns from which the curriculum revolution draws its standpoint. The pain of the curriculum victims are real stories experienced on daily basis in schools. That is why curriculum revolutions, when established, they share a commonality, in this case the inspiration is heartfelt curriculum injustices suffered by a young aspiring Journalist in school, whose subjects exclude Multimedia Journalism ,Photojournalism, Investigative Journalism, Political Studies, Mass Communication and Ethics as his relevant subjects in acquiring relevant knowledge about this chosen field of work. A young aspiring Lawyer in school, is also a victim of curriculum injustices as explicit and independent subjects such as Political Studies, Constitution, Family Law, Law of Persons, Legal Studies, and more are not offered in school – the CAPS Curriculum system of public schools in South Africa doesn’t offer these subjects and this leaves one wondering of relevancy and the meaning extrapolated from the idea of schooling. These are the matters that inspire the invention of curriculum revolutions.

For as long as aspiring Journalists and aspiring lawyers and many other aspirants in different fields in the South African classrooms suffer the curriculum imposition, curriculum injustices remain evident and that calls for a curriculum revolution to alert the education community of the alternative curriculum system. A career path journey begins after elementary school, it remains redundant and confusing that students in high school suffer imposed subjects, compelled to take the available subjects as their curriculum at the expense of the relevant and preferred career-oriented subjects they wish to take. That is why it depicts curriculum dictatorship to impose to students interested in Sports careers, subjects other than relevant sports career subjects such as Sports Coaching, Sports Journalism, and Sports Data Analysis etc.Forcing students interested in sports careers to do, for example, language literature is a typical example of this curriculum dictatorship. The continued act of curriculum imposition in schools validates the need of a curriculum revolution with intention to redress these curriculum loopholes.

The dejection and the curriculum disengagement students experience in schools has been brushed off and kept under the carpet for the longest of times! The time is now to address these curriculum irrelevancies with intentions to set uprightly the education system that benefits the nation as a whole. For this to be the success, it calls on all education stakeholders to unite, face the confusion and contradictions and establish permanent education solutions. This calls for the academic revolutionary approach as a modus operandi in re-defining the South African curriculum system.
The meaning of school that has been lost in the consciences of students needs to be resurrected with a meaningful curriculum system – the system that resonates with the individualistic traits of each and every student. The curriculum is needed, that will promote and advocate for the best interest of students by accommodating educational uniqueness of every student. And the students will only find school meaningful when a career-oriented curriculum system is in place. This will only be executed by a determined academic revolutionary approach under the project “curriculum revolution”.

It is for this reason that Personalized Education Curriculum System (PECS) seeks to reverse the current curriculum irrelevancy into curriculum relevancy. The PECS is designed to save learners from the monstrous curriculum that forces them to undertake subjects they won’t need in the future. PECS is a transformative education curriculum system that, through its nature of design, will put an end to the whole confusion around curriculum debates. PECS will further sort out the pass requirement standards once and for all. PECS seeks to bring back the value and dignity of our education system. PECS ensures that learners taste a glimpse of the workplace experience while still at school. That’s what makes PECS unique and highly relevant to inspire the education community of our nation, South Africa, and the whole of Africa. And that is how we believe the education system can be fixed.
